Two Opportunities for Learning & Discussion

"Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith!"

We continue with Rob Bell's book, Velvet Elvis. In it Bell attempts to help Christians "re-paint" the Christian faith in a way that helps people connect with Jesus today. The title of the book is inspired by a decidedly outdated painting of Elvis in Bell's basement. The painting becomes a metaphor for old ways of thinking about Christianity and the goal of the book is to "repaint" the Christian message in a way that is culturally relevant and meaningful today. Join the group in Room D of The Gathering Place at 10:05 am.

Our 2nd class is studing from "The Story" by Max Lucado and Randy Fraxee, and will be looking at Jesus, the Son of God, The Hour of Darkness, and The Resurrection. We will look at these bible stories from the lower story (man's story) and the upper story (God's story.) We will then consider the practical application for us today. Room E of the The Gathering Place at 10:05 am.  Guests are always welcome to both classes!
